Trimble e-Builder Implementation

e-Builder configured the way owners actually run capital programs.

e-Builder, now Trimble Unity Construct

APSI brings 36 years of owner side program management to Trimble e-Builder deployments. We design the processes, configure the cost structure, build the integrations, and deliver reporting your board can rely on.

What we build

Implementation from process design through production.

We own every layer of the e-Builder build so your program team can stay focused on delivery. From process mapping to live ERP integration, the technical scope sits with APSI.

Platform and Process Configuration

Account structure, roles, permissions, and the workflow processes that carry your program. We map your delivery methods and approval authority into e-Builder processes rather than forcing your team into a default template.

  • Role and permission design
  • Custom process and workflow builds
  • Project templates by delivery method
  • Document numbering and folder structure
  • DBB, CMAR, Design-Build, and JOC support

Cost and Funding Modules

Budget, commitments, change management, invoices, and funding sources are the modules that justify the investment. We configure them first and lock the structure before anything else goes live.

  • WBS and cost code structure setup
  • Budget, commitment, and change order configuration
  • Funding source and bond drawdown logic
  • Pay application workflow and retainage rules
  • Cash flow and forecast configuration

Integrations

Bidirectional data connections between e-Builder and the systems your organization already runs. Field mapping, error handling, and reconciliation are scoped as real work, not as an afterthought.

  • ERP integration with Banner, Oracle, SAP, and Lawson
  • Primavera P6 and MS Project schedule sync
  • DocuSign and e-signature workflow connection
  • Bid platform award to contract automation
  • Custom REST API connectors

Reporting and Dashboards

Board level dashboards, fund utilization reports, PM scorecards, and compliance tracking built on a data model that stays accurate as the program grows.

  • Report and dashboard data model design
  • Nightly data pipeline to BI tooling
  • Role based reporting security
  • Program and fund tracking dashboards
  • Export ready board reporting packages

Custom Forms and Compliance Workflows

When standard modules do not cover a program specific requirement, we build the custom forms and processes that close the gap inside the platform.

  • MBE, WBE, and DBE tracking workflows
  • Inspection and field report forms
  • Program specific compliance routing
  • Owner review and approval portals
  • Closeout and turnover checklists

Data Migration and Go Live

Moving active projects from spreadsheets, SharePoint, or a legacy PMIS requires judgment about what to migrate and what to archive. We have done both on live capital programs.

  • Source system assessment and extraction
  • Data cleaning and transformation
  • Platform load and validation
  • Parallel run and cutover planning
  • 90 day hypercare after go live
— How we work

A process built for construction programs.

APSI runs the implementation the way we run a capital program: documented scope, staged milestones, tested before it goes live, and a clean handoff at the end.

  1. 01
    Phase

    Discovery and Process Design

Dedicated technical discovery alongside stakeholder interviews. The focus is the ERP environment, funding structure, integration landscape, reporting requirements, and approval logic. Everything becomes a configuration specification before a single setting gets touched.

    Deliverable: Signed configuration specification document

  2. 02
    Phase

    Core Platform Build

Account setup, SSO, roles, processes, cost structure, funding sources, and document management configured against the specification. Every workflow is tested in a sandbox before it touches production data, with sign off at each milestone.

Deliverable: Core system ready for user acceptance testing

  3. 03
    Phase

    Integrations and Reporting Build

Connectors built, tested, and reconciled against real system data. Reporting data model designed and dashboards built against approved mockups. We do not start dashboard builds until the cost data model is stable, and we do not go live with integrations until reconciliation tests pass clean.

Deliverable: All integrations live in sandbox, dashboards approved

  4. 04
    Phase

    UAT Support and Go Live

We build the test scripts, facilitate user acceptance testing, fix defects on a tracked timeline, and run a formal go or no go review before anything moves to production. The go live decision is a documented sign off, not a calendar date.

Deliverable: Production system live, all users onboarded

  5. 05
    Phase

    Hypercare and Steady State

Ninety days of high touch support after go live. Issues surface once real users hit the system with real data. After hypercare we transition the program to steady state operations with full documentation and a trained admin team in place.

Deliverable: Full documentation, trained admins, support handoff

— Platform coverage

Every module your program licenses. Configured completely.

We work across the full e-Builder footprint and keep the difficult scope in house rather than handing it to a third party.

— Why APSI

What separates a configured system from one that works.

Most implementations get the basics right. The ones that fail do so quietly, six months after go live, when workarounds start piling up. We have seen the failure modes and we build against them.

01

We design before we configure

Every process, role, and approval chain is documented in a signed specification before we touch the system. The most expensive problems happen when configuration starts before requirements are clear.

02

AEC domain knowledge on the technical team

Our team understands what a schedule of values is, how retainage release works, and what a CM at Risk approval chain looks like. You do not spend meetings translating construction concepts into technology language.

03

Integrations are scoped honestly

ERP integrations are hard. Field mapping is complex, reconciliation testing takes time, and the API does not always behave the way documentation suggests. We give you honest estimates and honest timelines.

04

We own the entire technical scope

Configuration, custom processes, integrations, reporting, data migration, UAT support, go live. One team and one point of contact with visibility into all of it.

05

Funding structure gets the attention it deserves

For bond funded programs, public universities, and state agencies, funding source tracking is the most scrutinized part of the system. We lock the fund structure before cost configuration begins.

06

The system stays configured after go live

Installations drift. Approval chains get bypassed. Fields go unused. Our hypercare period and documentation handoff are designed to prevent the slow erosion that turns a good implementation into an expensive spreadsheet.

— Results

Proven on live capital programs.

U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs

Inherited a fragmented e-Builder environment and rebuilt the PMIS from the ground up. 36 concurrent projects now run through one validated system, tracking six months ahead of schedule.

— Implementation rescue

Implementation Rescue

Already live on e-Builder and not getting what you need from it?

  • Configuration audit against your original requirements
  • Cost and funding structure rebuild without a system-wide reset
  • Cleanup of workflows and permissions that have drifted from design
  • Data reconciliation before your next audit or board report
  • A path back to a system your team trusts
